Officer Charged With Off Duty Hit and Run Accident in Brooklyn

October 2nd, 2025

Alfredo Loyogarcia, a Police Officer from the 7th Precinct who lives in Staten Island, was arrested inside the confines of the 121st Precinct on charges of being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn. Loyogarcia was suspended without pay after leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it and refusing to take a breathalyzer exam, per the department.

Off Duty Cop Disguises Himself as Member of Trump Security Team

October 1st, 2025

Melvin Eng, a Second Grade Detective with the NYPD’s Detective Bureau Financial Crimes Task Force – who’s currently out on sick leave, allegedly disguised himself as a member of President Trump’s security team and snuck into the Ryder Cup. Eng was kicked out of the event once his identity was revealed, before being suspended by the department as he faces administrative charges for theft of service. The motivation for his behavior remains unknown.

Mamdani Wants To Give CCRB Say Over Officer Discipline

October 1st, 2025

When speaking with reporters on Tuesday afternoon, Mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani said he planned to move the power of authority in deciding police discipline from the NYPD commissioner to the CCRB. Under Mamdani’s proposal, the CCRB’s recommendation for a specific case would become the sole determinant of whether or not action is taken against them. Current regulations only allow the independently operated board to make a non binding recommendation.
