NYPD Retooling Domestic Abuse Unit
October 16th, 2025
The NYPD and Mayor Eric Adams announced the creation of a new domestic abuse unit which will earmark 450 cops to focus solely on domestic violence related calls. Commissioner Jessica Tisch plans to rollout the program next week, and intends to deploy officers throughout the five boroughs.

Mamdani Issues Public Apology to NYPD
October 15th, 2025
In an interview with Fox News’s Martha MacCallum, Zohran Mamdani apologized to the NYPD for previously making derogatory statements about police officers and the department on social media. Mamdani defended his comments on the basis that they were made out of emotional frustration with the political climate at the time.

Harrison, Abbassi, in the Mix for PC Role
October 15th, 2025
Rodney Harrison and Isa Abbassi are reportedly in the running to become the NYPD’s next Police Commissioner under an administration led by Zohran Mamdani. Harrison previously spent 33 years with the NYPD, rising to the Chief of Department role before leaving to become the Commissioner of the Suffolk County Police Department – a post he held for two years before retiring. Abbassi retired as a Deputy Chief in 2023; his return would come with a rapid ascension up the chain of command.

NYPD Surgeon Accused of Rape
October 14th, 2025
Dr. Maurizio Miglietta, an NYPD honorary surgeon, was accused of sexual assaulting and raping a female victim – at one point allegedly threatening her with a gun. The defendant stated he forced her to perform oral sex on him before raping her. Miglietta pleased not guilty to charges of rape, attempted rape, sexual abuse, and criminal possession of a firearm.

Kelly Chimes in on Mamdani
October 12th, 2025
Former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly issued a warning that more cops could leave the NYPD in droves if mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani were to win the election on the premise that he’d pass laws that are unfavorable to cops. Kelly also lauded the job of Commissioner Jessica Tisch while expressing hope that she remains on board with a new administration.
